Meet an instructor
You'll be greeted by name and introduced to whoever is teaching that day — no waiting around, no guessing where to go.
Tour the school
A quick walk-through of the mat space, changing areas, and what a normal class night looks like.
Discuss your goals and concerns
A short, honest conversation about why you're here — self-defense, fitness, confidence, something else — and anything you're unsure about.
Learn foundational movement
A small set of positions and movements that every technique in the curriculum builds on.
Train at a controlled pace
You'll practice with a partner at a pace built for a first day, not a tryout.

Practical details
What to know before you show up.
What should I wear?
Comfortable athletic clothing — a t-shirt and shorts or sweatpants. No uniform (gi) is needed for your intro class; we'll explain gear if you decide to continue.
When should I arrive?
About 15 minutes before your scheduled time so we can meet you, get basic paperwork out of the way, and settle in before class starts.
What should I bring?
Water, and a change of clothes if you'd like to shower or change afterward. Everything else is provided.
Do I need to be flexible or strong?
No. Nothing about your first class requires existing flexibility, strength, or cardio. You'll move at your own pace throughout.
